Do something about political division.
Coming Soon
Sandbox is the app for productive, sometimes messy political conversations.
Status Quo:
We aren't having conversations with people we disagree with. It feels completely off limits to discuss politics in person, and social media algorithms keep us inside our ideological bubbles.
The Way Forward:
Sandbox is a platform for people who want to have productive political conversations. Unlike social media, the conversations are private and have guardrails to keep them from getting too messy.
How it works:
Take on a new topic each week. Complete daily activities to share your opinion and understand your partner’s.
Sunday
You’ll complete a short survey each week where you can respond to quotes from academics, journalists, and politicians on one topic.
Monday - Friday
You will be paired with a partner who you disagree with on some things, and agree with on others.
Each day, you will briefly explain why you responded to an assertion the way you did, and give your partner feedback on their explanation. All subscribers will discuss the same quote on the same day. We hope that this will lead to conversations outside of the app, too.
1
Explain
Briefly explain why you agreed or disagreed with the quote of the day.
2
Respond
Let your partner know that you thought their explanation was reasonable, or tell them your concerns.
3
Review
See how your partner responded to your explanation.
Saturday
On Saturday, you and your partner will be put in a private, 1-on-1 chat.
You will receive a recap of where you agreed and disagreed, and where you were and weren’t able to take each other seriously.
